MIUI 10 Global Beta 8.7.5 – Available for eight Xiaomi smartphones:
Shortly after Xiaomi published a more detailed timeline along with a list of devices that will surely get the latest version of MIUI 10, the company launched the global beta version (MIUI 10 Global Beta 8.7.5) for its mid-range and affordable handsets of the last two years or so.
The MIUI 10 was announced along with the Mi 8, but the global version of the software was announced with the Redmi S2 in India.
So most Xiaomi-based phones in China have already started receiving the new Alpha / Beta versions of the overlay, but yesterday, the company launched the Global version for eight of its phones as well. As you have guessed, the MIUI 10 Global comes with the usual Google Play services and is called ROM Global Beta 8.7.5.
Devices eligible for flashing to MIUI Beta 8.7.5:
- Xiaomi Mi 6
- Xiaomi Mi Mix 2
- Xiaomi Redmi S2 (Redmi Y2 in India)
- Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro/Redmi Note 5
- Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S
- Xiaomi Mi 5
- Xiaomi Mi Note 2
- Xiaomi Mi Mix
Xiaomi says that this is only the first batch to receive Global Beta. More to come in the near future. The instructions to install the Global Beta software are:
- Do not forget to make a backup of your data
- Devices that are in stable ROM MIUI 7, 8 or 9 must perform the update through fastboot with the boot manager unlocked.
- Users who are already running MIUI 9 Global Beta ROM only need to verify the update manually in the Updater application menu.
One of the key features of the new Global Beta ROM version 8.7.5 is that it includes LDAC for Bluetooth devices. But it is important to keep in mind that this feature is not intrinsic to MIUI 10, but that Xiaomi promises that all its Android Oreo devices will get support for LDAC.
For those of you who do not know, LDAC improves the quality of the audio transmitted through Bluetooth. It was developed by Sony and has a higher bit rate than usual: 990 kbps. However, you can not benefit if you are not streaming audio without a loss like FLAC, for example. And your headphones also need to be compatible with LDAC transmission.
